Sorry about the false start (that assuming anyone's reading this?). More to come soon, I promise. My family recently did a Lord of the Rings marathon and Anne's getting married, so expect a lot of bad ring jokes. And jokes about how unoriginal I am. I find the best thing to do when you're writing comics and you have writer's block is to write comics about writer's block.

Maybe that Sixteen Personalities profile was right and I am a hopeless romantic. The Nick Chancy character only exists because I wanted one of my two female main characters to have a functioning relationship. (They don't even have a functioning relationship with each other as roommates who spend 90% of their day separated. Anne frequently tries to convince Ava to commit various crimes and Ava has taken to sleeping heavily armed.) Anyway. Nick is probably the one character in the strip who would ever make it in reality. Anne and Ava have all sorts of problems. Rachel mostly takes care of herself via luck. Nick is practical, hardworking, not a terrorist, not nursing a major guilt complex, not mentally ill, and not a psychopath like Esther is. He'd go far, here in reality. (Anne might, too, but only on blackmail.) I complain endlessly about Nick being a lousy comedy character. Honestly, that's not it. Overly Realistic Dad Jokes

 Again. . . sorry about missing days. If anyone's even reading this. (Anyone who is, please signal as such in the comments section. . . I don't expect to see any such signals for another couple of decades.) The prerequisite moping out of the way, let's get to the funny stuff. "But it's like Potions! No, it's worse than Potions!" "Good, good. . . let your hate fuel you." In cold or damp weather, Anne has bones that still won't let her forget it.

Cigarrette ads and Skullcaps. . .

. . . which clearly have nothing to do with each other, although I can just see Esther taking up a job in some of the world's least ethical advertising. The truth is that these two comics just didn't seem to fit into any other category and I wanted to put them up together. Face it, they're both so bizarre they were made for each other. This will all make sense in a moment. Huh. Now that I think about it, that's not so bizarre. . . but now you know what the cigarette was. And here's the skullcap. Although that name sounds really weird to me now. . . In this one, you can pretty much replace Esther with me and Ava with me and then it actually happened. I was trying to crochet a yarmulke, and, let's just say I'm no expert on crocheting hats of any sort and, really, I only had a vague idea of what a yarmulke is supposed to look like.
